Lady Jane Grey DVD Project

Lady Jane Grey grew up in Leicester’s Bradgate Park and is popularly known as the ‘Queen of nine days’, having reined as Queen of England for nine days in July 1553.
The Lady Jane Grey DVD project is a one year project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The project began in September 2009 with students at Beaumont Leys School and was initially developed by former project participant Jenna Forbes whilst on a New Deal scheme placement at Soft Touch Arts. In the early stages of the project the students came up with the idea of a contemporary version of the story to be interwoven into the historical version.
The final filming sessions are to take place in the Guildhall and the finished DVD will be distributed to museums and schools in the county as well as the Records Office and selected libraries. The students involved with the project have already visited Bradgate Park and will visit the Tower of London, where Lady Jane Grey was beheaded, as a part of the end of project celebration.
