MASH-UP CREATIVE MENTORS

If you’re 16-19 (up to 25 depending on your circumstances) and not yet ready for college, training or employment but you’re interested in learning skills and getting experience with music, art, fashion, photography, film etc, the Creative Mentors programme could be for you.

Three days per week (Tue, Wed and Friday 10-4pm) for 3-6 months you will get intensive support and exciting opportunities to get involved in creative projects and organising events.  You may also be entitled to Education Maintenance Allowance if you take part in this programme.

MASH-UP Creative Mentors Programme
The MASH-UP Creative Mentors Programme support young people to acquire creative skills and to gain the confidence to pass these skills on to other young people.
The areas you can gain skills in include:

•    Music production
•    Photography
•    Film making
•    Art and graffiti
•    DJing and MCing
•    Fashion and textiles

This programme is for young people aged 16-19 (up to 25 in some cases), who are not in education, employment or training.

Taking part in the programme will lead to the NCFE-accredited Soft Touch Creative Team Award Level 1.  The Creative Mentors Programme is already up and running and will continue until March 2011. The programme runs for 21 hours per week, currently on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The maximum time you can stay on the programme is 6 months - after that we would support you in you next move, eg to move into education or employment.  Set within the unique environment of the Soft Touch Studios, there is over one hundred years of creative experience to be tapped into within our staff.  Soft Touch Studios is based in the Clarendon Park area of the city, which is easily accessible by bus. There are also peer mentors to help guide young people with some of their individual programmes of work and to carry out creative group projects - the end result of these could be a flyer or poster for a showcase or event.

If this is something that you would like to be a part of you can get in contact with Luke Gosling, Creative Support Mentor at luke@soft-touch.org.uk or alternatively on 07581011071 or 0116 2702706.
