AT GARTREE’S END
Summer 2007 saw the young people of Gartree out on location making a scary movie set in their village. Harborough’s Chill Out Bus enabled us to set up a mobile film workshop in the centre of the village. Everyone in the group got involved in the many stages of producing the movie such as: story-boarding; make up; music; set design and set building; filming; video editing; stills; and costume design.
When the young people saw the finished film at the celebration launch in September they were proud of it:
"It was pretty good, better than I thought. My contribution was to video a bit and I did the music as well. I enjoyed using the equipment. There’s not a lot for young people to do in Gartree so it’s fun when the Chill Out bus comes down".
Kate Daisley, Children’s Services Manager for Harborough DC, was also impressed:
"It makes the young people see what they can achieve in a few hours a week. Other people also then see it and it shows exactly what the young people of Gartree can achieve".
The project was run as part of our Lottery funded S-T-R-E-TC-H programme with support from Harborough District Council.
