Punchlining Above Their Weight – Blog

Chris Phillips and Kevin Hudson used their comedy skills for good by devising and performing Punchlining Above Their Weight as part of Leicester Comedy Festival 2017, at the same time raising funds for Soft Touch Arts.

Their two shows took place at the Soft Touch HQ and BrewDog and it was an absolute pleasure to split our sides at their impressive, unique and personally quirky jokes. Whether it was about stuff you can see from space, park running, Simon and Garfunkel, or how many seagulls it takes for you to win the Lottery, it was a fine way to entertain the audience.

Chris and Kevin raised a whopping £750 through the two shows which will go straight back into our work offering creative opportunities for disadvantaged young people.

Find out how you can get involved with us

In January Youth Music awarded us funding to start a large three-year project, MiXT-UP, giving young people who wouldn't normally get the the chance to access music-making activities.

A weekly Saturday Activity suitable for SEN young people with Autism/SLD/MLD, this fully inclusive musical experience brings together many different styles of music from Rock to Samba, Hip Hop and the spoken word. Each session will include playing a variety of instruments e.g. drums, keyboards, guitars and percussion. Technology such as Ableton Push and Soundbeam will also be used to enhance the pieces of music that the young people create. No experience needed, just come along and enjoy making music with others. A contribution towards the running costs of £30 per term is required to attend.
