Community Archive

Through the interviews, we discovered that people loved the strong community in New Parks. Spaces like Team Hub, the Library, and New Parks Social Club are long-standing hotspots within the area. Local residents reflected on the joy these spaces have brought, from days gone by to the present.
Many recalled their families moving to New Parks shortly after the first houses were built. It was their first time experiencing indoor bathrooms and central heating – this felt like luxury!
Voices of New Parks
Opportunities & Looking Forward
While people valued the shops and green spaces, they also highlighted areas where the community could be strengthened, such as addressing occasional anti-social behaviour. We plan to continue supporting our young people in New Parks through programmes like Project Enable.

With Thanks to Our Partners
This project wouldn’t have been possible without the support and collaboration of the following organisations: Historic England, Team Hub, New Parks Library and their wonderful Lunch Club, New Parks Foodbank, New Parks Mens Shed Group, Tea Bags Community Cafe, Herewoode Academy, Two Queens, Special Collections team at the University of Leicester, and Leicester Industrial History Society. We are incredibly grateful for their expertise, guidance, and encouragement in helping us celebrate the stories and heritage of New Parks.
