Welcome to our Soft Sell page, this is a showcase for young people’s products created whilst on various projects at Soft Touch arts.
Creative Enterprise programme.
This is a brand new project for Soft Touch, which allows us to provide a progression route for young people, by providing support and guidance in business skills.
We help young people produce and sell creative work online and at showcase events. We also provide them with the opportunity to network with business advisors and the public via advice sessions and events.
The project will give participants a broad range of life, communication, organisation and negotiation skills along with experience of working in a team and producing work to deadlines.
The Modified exhibition has been created by young people and is part of the Mods: Shaping a Generation exhibition project at New Walk Museum and Art Gallery and Soft Touch Arts. Different groups of young people have created fashion, music, graphics and film inspired by Mod culture. They also designed T-shirts and a cut-out paper doll to sell as a part of the exhibition.
Proceeds from the sale of album covers have kindly been donated to the Soft Touch Arts charity by Wyggeston and Queen Elizabeth I College.
Unlocked Prison Art
This collection of works has been created by men serving sentences at HMP Leicester, HMP Stocken, and the now-closed HMP Glen Parva, as well as those who have completed their sentences and returned to their communities. Soft Touch arts workers have worked with groups of prisoners on a broad range of themes and in different media, creating artworks that draw attention away from the usual visual surroundings of the prison environment and create a more peaceful and inspirational mood.
Items for sale were exhibited at the first Unlocked exhibition at New Walk Museum and Art Gallery and Soft Touch Arts in September 2018. A proportion of the proceeds is held in trust to be given to the artist on release from prison.
Selling a piece of artwork can provide a huge confidence boost for young people so do consider supporting the project.
